Business experience, trusted supply chains and commitment to the industry
I have proudly been part of the British curry industry since 1995, beginning my career as a waiter. Those early years gave me a strong understanding of restaurant operations, customer service, teamwork and the dedication required to succeed in hospitality.
As my experience grew, I worked alongside many talented professionals and learned every aspect of the restaurant business. Together with my elder brother, Kamal Miah, I later opened our own restaurant, where I continued to develop practical knowledge of the industry's needs.
After recognising the difficulties restaurants faced in sourcing quality products at competitive prices, I carried out extensive research across South Wales. This led to the establishment of Universal Cash & Carry, which supplied wholesale products to the curry industry between 2000 and 2004.
I later expanded into the travel and financial-services sector, operating a travel agency and international money-transfer business for many years. These ventures strengthened my business-management experience and broadened my understanding of customer service across different industries.
Today, I am proud to serve as the Managing Director of LS Foods Cash & Carry. I work with suppliers and manufacturers from around the world to source quality products for restaurants, while building reliable relationships and maintaining a dependable supply chain.
It is an honour to serve as a Board Member of the British Curry Network. I am committed to supporting independent restaurants, encouraging collaboration and helping businesses access the products, services and opportunities they need to grow.
I believe that by sharing our experience, embracing innovation and supporting one another, we can build a stronger and more sustainable future for the British curry industry.
